Gucci unveils its foray into personalised fashion with a new do-it-yourself service for men and women.

Launching during Milan men’s fashion week, luxury brand Gucci is set to diversify options for its customers through an innovative repertoire of customisable menswear, unisex jackets and shoes for men and women. The latest project is the brainchild of Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, who wanted to provide his customers with an opportunity to express their creativity through the personalisation of selected products. The items are deeply rooted in his love for the unabashed British punk attitude, with the entire programme encouraging customers to actively enjoy the freedom of self-expression. Every men’s product in the range can be fully customised to the customer’s content. All jackets are fully canvassed with a diverse range of fabrics and buttons to choose from, along with several clothing templates to suit daywear and eveningwear. Meanwhile, the DIY project has embraced equality with the additional launch of unisex bombers and denim jackets. The bomber jackets feature a reversible style with various single-colour options, while the denim jackets come in two distinctive washes and fits. And if you thought Gucci’s new service couldn’t get any cooler, Mr Michele brings red carpet looks to everyday consumers through a wide selection of silk printed shirts and knitwear styles that come in 14-gauge cashmere and exclusive fine 21-guage merino wool. As for DIY shoes, the brand’s men’s shoes – whether lace-up, monk strap or loafer – can be customised with embossed initials on the inside while women can spruce up their Gucci mule shoes with horsebit (silver or gold) and the possibility of adding a tiger’s head patch to the shoe’s apron. Gucci’s new phase into the diversification of personalised fashion will be further celebrated with an intimate window display in their flagship store in Via Montenapoleone. In the display, two kingsnakes, a tiger’s head, a bee, a crown and the words ‘DO IT YOURSELF’ will be showcased in Gucci’s new house shield.
