Meet eva

Published in The F:

Fresh out from the UK and making its way down under, Eva is the latest app to hit the bustling social media scene.

Premiering its Australian launch at Melbourne’s very own Circus Bar, the rooftop terrace was an astounding affair of luxury and splendour where TV actors, catwalk models, and bloggers celebrated the night in style.

Eva hopes to empower its user by creating a close-knit community of followers as they share and document their life through videos. To put it more simply, it’s like Vine without the loop, and Instagram without the 16-second time limit.

“It’s like Vine but without the six second restriction; Instagram but with full screen portrait; Periscope but you get to keep your content in the eva cloud forever. It’s a video social network – people record video then share it,” said Co-founder and Director Aziz Musa.

“Let’s face it, people don’t care about technology, they care about their friends and what they’re doing and stories that engage and excite them. They want to feel entertained whilst being part of something that is bigger than they are but feels small enough to influence.”

Personally from a user’s point of view, navigation around the app is quite clunky and I was unsure of what to actually do or what to press, but shortcomings like these are often commonplace for apps still in its early development stages.

Obviously with that said, there is potential for the app to grow and become a standout in the social media landscape.

It’ll be interesting to see the impact it will make on Australian shores and worldwide.

At the moment, the app is only available on Apple products, with plans to roll out the app out to Android users soon.
