Sportsgirl SS15 Runway

Published in The F:

Starting its humble beginnings in 1948, Sportsgirl has since become the destination for trend-conscious girls.

With a colourful history of designer collaborations, positive body image promotions and a long-standing partnership with the Butterfly Foundation, it’s safe to say that the brand has become an icon in the Australian fashion industry.

So what can you expect from a label that has been in the game for more than five decades? Timeless consistency.

Held at Central Pier, the Sportsgirl Spring/Summer ’15 runway was nothing short of spectacular with the collections featuring a vast array of eclectic patterns combined with subtle shades like pale blue and warm yellow.

The Sportsgirl runway was mixed into separate categories, with a consistent point of interest that ran throughout the collection. While ‘Urban Safari’ lent focus on vibrant patterns inspired by the beauty of nature, ‘Desert Tribe’ threw its style back to the hippie days where young, carefree spirits reigned with a presentation of floral prints, denim shorts, and comfortable maxi dresses.

Meanwhile, ‘Blue Jean Baby’ was subtle chic with traditional blue denims and floral headpieces. Special highlight to this category would be frayed hem indigo jean and the frayed hem white skinny jean, which would easily complement any outfit for the upcoming summer sunshine.

Overall, another hit in the right direction for a brand that’s been there, done that and seen it all.
